ProductPrintPro is a plug-in for WordPress-powered websites and requires WooCommerce to be installed.

Installation

After purchase you will be able to download productprintpro.zip, which is a compressed file. There are two ways to install it:

Easy way (no need for ftp access to your web server):
1. Go to your admin area and select Plugins -> Add new from the menu.
2. Click ‘Upload’.
3. Click ‘Browse…’ and select the productprintpro.zip file. Click ‘Install now’.
2. Click ‘Activate plugin’.
3. Go to Settings -> ProductPrint Pro and configure your options.

Slightly harder way (you need to have access to the plugins directory, usually via ftp):
1. Unzip the productprintpro.zip folder on your PC.
2. Upload the entire ‘productprint’ folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory.
3. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
4. Go to Settings > ProductPrint Pro and configure your options.

Once you have installed and activated ProductPrint Pro, the print button is added to every product page. A new entry in the dashboard settings menu gives you access to the ProductPrint Pro settings.

Settings

These notes explain the ProductPrint Pro settings so you can tailor the output, and get the best printed appearance for your product literature. It’s well worth spending a few minutes experimenting with the options to ensure your printed product literature does full justice to your products.

Print button

print-button-settingPosition: You can choose the most suitable position for the print button to appear on the product page. Try a couple of positions for the button until you find the one that is the most suitable for your store.

button-legend-settingLegend: The text for the print button. It could simply say ‘Print’ or you could make it more descriptive, e.g. Print a copy, Print flyer, etc. If you don’t enter anything, your button will be blank.

Header Image

header-image-settingThis will appear across the top of the printed page, scaled full-width (100%). It’s a great opportunity to brand your product information. A simple but effective option would be your store logo, centered.

Use a high resolution image to avoid pixelation, remember this will be printed to a good quality printer, not just displayed on-screen. A reasonable header image size would be 2000px width by 300px. When choosing the header image from the media library, select the full size image and click ‘Insert into post’.

Header text

header-text-setting

If you don’t want to use a header image you might simply include your store’s URL and contact details here. Html formatting is allowed.

Example:

<center>www.example.com</br>

Email info@example.com</br>

Tel 020 1234 567</center>

<hr/>

This would print the website address, email address and phone number, all centered, with a horizontal rule below.

You can, of course, have both a header image and header text beneath.

Select the elements to be printed

elements-setting

Place a tick in each checkbox to have that element included in the print-out.

IMPORTANT: These are the only details that ProductPrint Pro will print. If your store’s product page shows any other information about your products this other information will not be printed.

You might decide not to include reviews, because if one of more of your products has a lot of reviews, this will result in a very long print-out. Most people would prefer to read these on-screen. You might also want to prevent stock levels being printed as these are likely to change. The overall star rating (out of 5) will be printed if ratings have been enabled for the product, and Reviews has been checked.

Featured Image Settings

featured-image-settingPosition: Choose left, right or none. Text will wrap to the right or the left, unless you choose ‘none’. In this case the image will appear by itself, with description(s) below.

Width: Enter a percentage, which is the percentage of the page width. A recommended size is 25%. Try a few sizes and see what works well for your images. Remember to add the % symbol to the dimension.

Alternatively you can specify the width in pixels. Make sure to add px to the dimension, e.g. enter 200px

Height: This is optional because if you enter nothing here, the images will be scaled in proportion to the width. If you do enter a value then to avoid image distortion, this should be the same as the width. You can also enter the size in pixels, e.g. 200px.

Left margin, Right margin, Top margin, Bottom margin: Enter values in pixels or % to give some space around the featured image and prevent the text from bunching right up to it. A value of 20px works alright.

It makes more sense to enter a value in pixels, because the % values relate to the width or height of the page, not a percentage of the image size.

Remember to add either the % symbol or px to the dimension.

Show border: Select Yes or No. If you select Yes, then by default a thin grey border will be added to the featured image. If your images have a lot of white space, then adding a border can tidy up the appearance of the print-out.

Gallery Options

gallery-settingThe gallery images are printed in rows. You can control the size of the images by entering a width and (optionally) a height.

Width: Enter a percentage, which is the percentage of the page width. This will be the size of each image in the gallery. A recommended size is 15%. Try a few sizes and see what works well for your image gallery. Remember to add the % symbol to the dimension.

Alternatively you can specify the width in pixels. Make sure to add px to the dimension, e.g. enter 50px

Height: This is optional. If you enter nothing here, the images will be scaled in proportion to the width. If you enter a % value for the width then, again, the height is ignored and the images are scaled proportionally.

Show borders: Select Yes or No. If you select Yes, then by default a thin grey border will be added around each image. If your images have a lot of white space, then adding a border can tidy up the appearance of the print-out.

Printer font

Footer text

footer-text-setting

You can use this to add anything you like to the bottom of the print-out. How you use this is up to your imagination. Here are some suggestions:

  • Copyright information
  • Contact details
  • Cross-sells
  • A banner image
  • Request for an approval signature. (Make it easy for an employee to get a purchase signed off.)
  • Directions to your store
  • A QR code
  • Terms & conditions

Here is a simple example:
